Weekly update

I keep meaning to sit down and update our blog with some pictures and an update, but I couldn't find the time until now.
I have really appreciated having a Saturday after a stressful week of work.  I handle the books and payroll for about 15 construction companies.  As if that wasn't enough, we took over a new company whose secretary quit this week.  They've been doing things very differently from what we've done so it's hard to learn everything and still keep up.  Oh fun.

Thursday night I baby-sat for our friends, the Johnnie's.  They have a little girl named Cadence.  She is adorable and very well behaved.  It was fun to have a little one come play.  She loves Nemo.
Thursday also had some crazy weather, as those of you in Utah know.  I personally like the snow, but some found it annoying since it is April.
Luke and I rearranged our bedroom and found ourselves with a problem.  Since our bed is now under our windows, the light shines right in our faces in the morning.  I bought this material and thought it would make perfect curtains that would block a lot of the light, but still let some in.
The other reason I wanted curtains was because the cat is constantly sitting on the window sills and breaking off the blinds.  We started pulling up the blinds, but I'd rather not in the bedroom.  I made the curtains a little short so the cat could still get in there.
I felt very crafty since I made them.  What makes the whole story even better was that I almost broke my neighbors sewing machine twice.  Oops.  I think they turned out well enough.  They serve their purpose.
My parents and Lindsey and Tyler came over for my birthday.  We had delicious cake with rainbow chip frosting.  Is there really any other way to make a birthday cake?  I didn't think so.  It's getting harder to blow out all these candles.  Man I'm getting old.  23!!!
Luke was going to make me an appointment to get my hair done for my birthday, but I ended up making an appointment for myself.  I was getting so tired of long stringy hair.  So I decided to get it chopped and colored for a nice change.  Here's some before and after shots.

Here's the before and after from the front.

Well, that's the latest with us.  And yes, Luke enjoyed his NLF Draft today.  He was very pleased with the turnout of his precious Kansas City Chiefs.

THE NFL DRAFT IS HERE!!!!!!!!!

For all of those people who natalie has linked to us and those of you who have absolutely know nothing about me, I am a football fanatic. I love the kansas city chiefs, I will not change teams unlike my uncle dan or my brother Ster. Ster "claims" that he has been a huge patriots fan but no one heard about it until last year, how convenient!

I hope everyone is as excited as I am to watch the entire first day of the draft. Yeah I said it "the entire day". If you happen to call me on during the draft I hope you don't expect an in depth conversation. If you want to talk about football you may come over and enjoy the silky goodness of the NFL draft. The only thing better than the NFL draft is the wait for the NFL Fantasy Football Draft to get on its way. I love football.

House update

Well, here's the latest.  It is really starting to look like a house!  It's amazing what a couple calls will do to help your imagination.

Simple Pleasures

We keep Mow-Mow as an inside cat since we live on a busy road.  The only glimpse she gets of the outside world is through our windows.  I decided that since the weather is a little warmer, we could start opening the windows a little bit.
She literally sits in front of the crack all day and just watches.  It gets really excited when she finds a bug or mouse that fell into the window well.  Cats are so entertaining.

I need some help

The owners of the company I work for are trying to come up with a new name.  We are a construction, property management and development company.  Right now we just have an "MV" in front of all those (MV Construction, MV Properties... and so on).

Anyway, there is a lot of confusion when we say the name. "Was that N or M?  Did you say MB? MD?" You get the point.
So they are looking for something classy, something simple to say and spell.  We've met as an office to try to come up with something and nothing seems to be catching on.
We're thinking something along the lines of Highmark, Envision, or CDM (Construction, Development, Managment).  If the owners pick my name, I get $250 so I really want to come up with something great.  If you have any ideas, please share!

New Background

I got tired of not being able to see half the words on my posts. Hopefully this is better... and hopefully it's not too girly for Luke :)

Funny and sometimes true

I know I've already had a couple posts today, but I found this email and I think it's hilarious.  I read it to Luke and we enjoyed a good laugh.  I wanted to share this little bit of joy with you.

INSTALLING A HUSBAND

Dear Tech Support,

Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a
distinct slow down in overall system performance -- particularly in
the flower and jewelry applications, which operated flawlessly under
Boyfriend 5.0.
In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs,
such as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5 and then installed
undesirable programs such as MLB 2.5, NFL 5.0, NBA 3.0, NCAA Football
and Basketball 4.0, Fly Fishing 6.5, and Golf Clubs 7.1. (and possibly
NASCAR 400.0 or 500.0 and Texas Hold 'em 2007)

Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes
the system. I've tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but
to no avail.

What can I do?

Signed, Desperate
-------------------------------------

Dear Desperate:

First keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while
Husband 1.0 is an Operating System. Please enter the command: 'I
Thought You Loved Me.exe' and try to download Tears 6.2 and don't
forget to install the Guilt 3.0 update. If that application works as
designed, Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications
Jewelry 2.0 and Flowers 3.5.
As a final backup program, you might try Bun-In-The-Oven (BITO) as a
long term solution. Keep in mind that BITO can come in versions 1.0,
2.0, 3.0, etc. and requires you to sign a 9 month installation
agreement followed by a 18 year maintenance contract. You should make
sure your Husband 1.0 operating system is compatible with the BITO
version before you install this program.

But remember, overuse of the above applications can cause Husband 1.0
to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5, or even crash leaving you with no
operating system.
Whatever you do, DO NOT install Mother-in-law 1.0 (it runs a virus in
the background that will eventually seize control of all your system
resources).

Also, do not attempt to reinstall the Boyfriend 5.0 program. These are
unsupported applications and will crash Husband 1.0 .

In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited
memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider
buying additional software to improve memory and performance. We
recommend Food 3.0 and Hot Lingerie 7.7.

Good Luck,

Tech Support

Family Fun

Luke and I had to give talks on Sunday so my family came up.  They spent the day with us eating delicious food and playing games like Payday.  Doesn't everyone look so happy?
My mom ending up winning the game.  She usually does.  But if she doesn't win, she usually pouts about it.  I love my mom.

Framing

Well, the framing started last week and is coming along.  It was snowing today (in April, yeah I know) so the framers left early.  It's fun to see it becoming a house.  This is the view of the garage.  Someday there will be a driveway too.
This is the view of the two bedrooms and bath that we'll leave unfinished in the basement.

Syrus the Virus

This is my cute nephew, Syrus.  He belongs to Luke's sister, Nikki and her husband, Zach.  He gets more attention than he would like simply because he is the only boy of all the kids.

Zach was reading a book to Syrus about creepy crawly things that sneak into our food.  GROSS!  I think Syrus was officially freaked out.
It must not have freaked him out too much because he was all sticky fingers when it came to dinner time.

Solitary Confinement

Luke and I found this show that we are officially hooked to.  It's called Solitary and it's crazy!  There are 9 people each in their own little white "pod" and they are put through physical, mental and emotional challenges.  I'm surprised how entertaining it was.  If you get the Fox Reality Channel, you should check it out.

April Fools!

I really wanted to pull one of these today:
I love April Fools, but I am terrible at playing jokes.  I can't keep a straight face and everyone would know it was me.  Someday I'll pull something great and everyone will think I'm the master trickster.   But until then, I want to hear what pranks you guys pulled on this festive day.
