Dax is one!

My little baby is ONE! I can't believe a year has gone by already. These were taken on his Birthday, November 1st. I'll post the party later.
It's hard to believe that just a year ago, he was this. Sleeping all the time and not moving. Now I've got my hands full!

At one, here are some of the things Dax is doing.
*He has 2 bottom teeth and are working on his 2 top teeth
*Dances to anything with a good beat (Veggie Tales, I Like to Move it Move it, and Baby I Like It - by Enrique Iglesias - random I know)
*Says uh oh, dada, mama, and ba for most everything else.
*He is walking and thinks he can run - this usually results in a face plant
*Loves whatever Mom and Dad are eating. Doesn't like baby food from jars anymore. He loves Gerber yogurts, gold fish crackers, and Marshmallow Mateys.
*He loves our neighbor kids, Macie and Noah and gets so excited to see them
*His favorite toys right now are the Johnson's bottle of baby soap, the broom his size, wooden puzzles, his rocking chair, his teddy bear and the banana chair
*He still loves books and will sit down to read and talk to himself
*Loves helping Mom with laundry. He plays in the water and pulls out the dryer filter for me. Such a sweetie
*He still sleeps through the night from about 9:00pm until 7:30am. If he does wake up, he puts himself back to sleep. I think I got super lucky with this!
*He points and grunts when he wants something. We are working on sign language, but he doesn't seem interested in trying it at all.
*He LOVES the kitties and they are very tolerant to put up with his roughness
*He is pretty much happy all the time. It's easy to get him to smile and giggle
*He always has something in his mouth. And he has a big mouth, so we have to watch closely
*He loves his silky blanket and his binky (as you'll see in the pictures). They are his biggest comfort and will be hard to break the habit later.

So that's my little man at one. I pretty much love him to death!

Halloween 2010

So I clearly have been a blog slacker since it's been 6 months since I posted last. Some exciting news: Luke got a really great job as an office administrator for a guy that does financial planning, life insurance and investments. He loves it and he loves his boss. And I love it because that means I was able to quit my job, working for the devil :) It has been great being home with Dax and I love being able to see him grow up, moment by moment. It's amazing that even after one week, I can already see why the Lord made motherhood and nurturing the main role for women. I always knew it was important, but it's different to actually live it and see the importance as my child learns and grows. We are really blessed that I can be home with him.

Dax is now 1!!! I can't believe it has already been a year! We are having his party this weekend, so I'll post pictures after that. Here's what we've been up to for the last few months (The pictures are in order from oldest to newest on bottom).

We had a couple swimming adventures this summer. Dax didn't like the cold pool so much but the hot tub was always a hit with him. I love the gut!
Bear Lake's highlight was eating sand! Who doesn't love a little crunch in their sandwich?
My aunt Jennifer and her family was here for a couple weeks in July. We went to the Bountiful Pioneer Days parade, and even though we were in the shade, we were all still sweating! We also had a family reunion at the Bountiful Rec Center - which was awesome!
The next day we all went to Snowbird and rode the alpine slide, zip line, ropes course, rock wall, and hiking. It was a great couple days with everyone.
Dax experienced his first Demolition Derby. As you can see from the look on his face, he was a little concerned at first. He did really well even with all the loud noises and stinky car smells. It looks like we have a hit.
I love when he sits on his feet like this. So cute! He is pretty much into everything now. I don't realize how messy a room is until he's taking a nap and I have a chance to assess the damage. It's as if a tornado followed him around.
We fed the ducks a couple times this year. Dax loves animals so he wasn't scared, but some of the geese did get a little too close. They get a little impatient and nip at you if you don't feed them quick enough.
Look at that cute little face! I can't believe how much he's looking like a little boy and not a baby anymore.
Luke and I celebrated our 6th anniversary. My parents were kind enough to take Dax for a couple nights and we headed to Park City. We spent a day shopping the outlets and had some delicious meals at some great restaurants. I saved up money for a couple months - too bad we aren't rich enough to shop like that all the time. We had a great weekend.
Here's the loot.
Dax didn't even miss us. Look at the fun he was having without us.
Dax had his first Halloween this year! He was a dragon - which looks a little sleepy. We went to our ward party and did some of the games: cake walk, fishing and face painting. I was surprised that he actually sat still while the young women painted his face.
Then we headed to Lindsey and Tyler's ward party for dinner and more fun events. They did a Trunk-r-Treat at their church. Dax had no idea what was going on, but he had fun running around and making dragon noises. Luke and I actually dressed up this year - Nerd and cavewoman.
Jake and Kara came over and carved pumpkins with us. Luke's (far left) is a monster eating a little pumpkin. The little pumpkin guts are falling into the monsters mouth. Jake made a scary face. Mine is the spider. Kara (far right) made a silly face and stuck the tongue on with toothpicks. I love to see people's creativity. I am amazed at what people come up with with just a pumpkin.

One night Luke and I were playing Wii and laughing at ourselves. Dax thought it was pretty funny and copied our laughing. I love how his laugh is totally fake and he thinks he's so funny!
Well, that's it for now. I really will try to make an effort to post more than once every 6 months.

6 Month Pictures (really 7 month pics)

We had some scheduling conflicts with rain in May since we wanted to do pictures outside. By the time we got the pictures done it was almost June. Thanks Linds for doing the photo shoot - they turned out great! Here's our favorites.
Other than not loving the grass, Dax did pretty well.

This will be my second post EVER!

As many of you know I am an avid blogger and I am completely addicted to posting my every moment and if any of you have met me you know that last sentence is totally untrue. However, I felt that some of dax's pictures needed to be shared. I love when he is super happy and I love it when he smiles when his hand or foot is not in his mouth. This was one of those rare moments. We had aunt lindsey come over and take his 7 month pictures and this picture was taken as we where trying to get him to smile. What a great smile that little bugger.

P.S Natalie is making me tell everyone that this is a post from luke nesbit not natalie. So now you know.

6 months

Since Dax is now 6 months old, this requires another blog post.
He is 16.88 lbs which is the 38%
He is 27.5 inches which is the 84%
His head is 16.9 inches which is the 28%
So pretty much, he's a long skinny boy. Hopefully he'll be a tall kid. It's hard to believe he's only in the 38% when you see his little tubby belly. So cute! Can you see how tight the pajamas are on his forearms?
Dax got his first haircut a couple weeks ago. He didn't have a ton of hair, but he had some nasty long hairs. When I pushed it forward, he would have these 2 long bangs. Not attractive at all. I love his snotty nose and gaping mouth.

I tried to make a cool mohawk before we cut it, but it just curled and it looked like we were trying to make him a girl. Not a good look.

Dax loves his bath time is starting to figure out how to sit in his little tub without tipping over. I love him wrapped up in a towel. He was smiling and as soon as I get the camera out, the stunned look is all I get.

Toes were a new discovery this month. The best part about toes is that they go in the mouth. Wouldn't it be nice to still be that flexible? Dax would be in heaven if he could put EVERYTHING in his mouth.

I love waking him up from naps because I get to see the crazy ways he sleeps. He loves falling asleep with his silky blanket on his face and I found him like this one afternoon. I love that it's perfectly positioned over his face.

He's been sleeping on his side which makes him seem so grown up to me.
My parents got back from Europe Saturday night so we got the family together on Sunday to visit and hang out. I think they were only gone 3 weeks, but it felt like much longer, since I usually talk to my mom every few days. It was fun to hang out together before Linds and Tyler take off for Europe. All this traveling is making me want to go to Europe. Someday.
Dax was a great little card player and made a great asset to Lindsey's team.
We'll have to turn him into a professional card holder.
I love that he's growing up and learning how to do new things. Everyday is a new experience where he learns something new. He is so much fun and such a happy kid. Now I just need to figure out how to get him to smile for pictures.
