Halloween 2010

So I clearly have been a blog slacker since it's been 6 months since I posted last. Some exciting news: Luke got a really great job as an office administrator for a guy that does financial planning, life insurance and investments. He loves it and he loves his boss. And I love it because that means I was able to quit my job, working for the devil :) It has been great being home with Dax and I love being able to see him grow up, moment by moment. It's amazing that even after one week, I can already see why the Lord made motherhood and nurturing the main role for women. I always knew it was important, but it's different to actually live it and see the importance as my child learns and grows. We are really blessed that I can be home with him.

Dax is now 1!!! I can't believe it has already been a year! We are having his party this weekend, so I'll post pictures after that. Here's what we've been up to for the last few months (The pictures are in order from oldest to newest on bottom).

We had a couple swimming adventures this summer. Dax didn't like the cold pool so much but the hot tub was always a hit with him. I love the gut!
Bear Lake's highlight was eating sand! Who doesn't love a little crunch in their sandwich?
My aunt Jennifer and her family was here for a couple weeks in July. We went to the Bountiful Pioneer Days parade, and even though we were in the shade, we were all still sweating! We also had a family reunion at the Bountiful Rec Center - which was awesome!
The next day we all went to Snowbird and rode the alpine slide, zip line, ropes course, rock wall, and hiking. It was a great couple days with everyone.
Dax experienced his first Demolition Derby. As you can see from the look on his face, he was a little concerned at first. He did really well even with all the loud noises and stinky car smells. It looks like we have a hit.
I love when he sits on his feet like this. So cute! He is pretty much into everything now. I don't realize how messy a room is until he's taking a nap and I have a chance to assess the damage. It's as if a tornado followed him around.
We fed the ducks a couple times this year. Dax loves animals so he wasn't scared, but some of the geese did get a little too close. They get a little impatient and nip at you if you don't feed them quick enough.
Look at that cute little face! I can't believe how much he's looking like a little boy and not a baby anymore.
Luke and I celebrated our 6th anniversary. My parents were kind enough to take Dax for a couple nights and we headed to Park City. We spent a day shopping the outlets and had some delicious meals at some great restaurants. I saved up money for a couple months - too bad we aren't rich enough to shop like that all the time. We had a great weekend.
Here's the loot.
Dax didn't even miss us. Look at the fun he was having without us.
Dax had his first Halloween this year! He was a dragon - which looks a little sleepy. We went to our ward party and did some of the games: cake walk, fishing and face painting. I was surprised that he actually sat still while the young women painted his face.
Then we headed to Lindsey and Tyler's ward party for dinner and more fun events. They did a Trunk-r-Treat at their church. Dax had no idea what was going on, but he had fun running around and making dragon noises. Luke and I actually dressed up this year - Nerd and cavewoman.
Jake and Kara came over and carved pumpkins with us. Luke's (far left) is a monster eating a little pumpkin. The little pumpkin guts are falling into the monsters mouth. Jake made a scary face. Mine is the spider. Kara (far right) made a silly face and stuck the tongue on with toothpicks. I love to see people's creativity. I am amazed at what people come up with with just a pumpkin.

One night Luke and I were playing Wii and laughing at ourselves. Dax thought it was pretty funny and copied our laughing. I love how his laugh is totally fake and he thinks he's so funny!
Well, that's it for now. I really will try to make an effort to post more than once every 6 months.

6 Month Pictures (really 7 month pics)

We had some scheduling conflicts with rain in May since we wanted to do pictures outside. By the time we got the pictures done it was almost June. Thanks Linds for doing the photo shoot - they turned out great! Here's our favorites.
Other than not loving the grass, Dax did pretty well.

This will be my second post EVER!

As many of you know I am an avid blogger and I am completely addicted to posting my every moment and if any of you have met me you know that last sentence is totally untrue. However, I felt that some of dax's pictures needed to be shared. I love when he is super happy and I love it when he smiles when his hand or foot is not in his mouth. This was one of those rare moments. We had aunt lindsey come over and take his 7 month pictures and this picture was taken as we where trying to get him to smile. What a great smile that little bugger.

P.S Natalie is making me tell everyone that this is a post from luke nesbit not natalie. So now you know.

6 months

Since Dax is now 6 months old, this requires another blog post.
He is 16.88 lbs which is the 38%
He is 27.5 inches which is the 84%
His head is 16.9 inches which is the 28%
So pretty much, he's a long skinny boy. Hopefully he'll be a tall kid. It's hard to believe he's only in the 38% when you see his little tubby belly. So cute! Can you see how tight the pajamas are on his forearms?
Dax got his first haircut a couple weeks ago. He didn't have a ton of hair, but he had some nasty long hairs. When I pushed it forward, he would have these 2 long bangs. Not attractive at all. I love his snotty nose and gaping mouth.

I tried to make a cool mohawk before we cut it, but it just curled and it looked like we were trying to make him a girl. Not a good look.

Dax loves his bath time is starting to figure out how to sit in his little tub without tipping over. I love him wrapped up in a towel. He was smiling and as soon as I get the camera out, the stunned look is all I get.

Toes were a new discovery this month. The best part about toes is that they go in the mouth. Wouldn't it be nice to still be that flexible? Dax would be in heaven if he could put EVERYTHING in his mouth.

I love waking him up from naps because I get to see the crazy ways he sleeps. He loves falling asleep with his silky blanket on his face and I found him like this one afternoon. I love that it's perfectly positioned over his face.

He's been sleeping on his side which makes him seem so grown up to me.
My parents got back from Europe Saturday night so we got the family together on Sunday to visit and hang out. I think they were only gone 3 weeks, but it felt like much longer, since I usually talk to my mom every few days. It was fun to hang out together before Linds and Tyler take off for Europe. All this traveling is making me want to go to Europe. Someday.
Dax was a great little card player and made a great asset to Lindsey's team.
We'll have to turn him into a professional card holder.
I love that he's growing up and learning how to do new things. Everyday is a new experience where he learns something new. He is so much fun and such a happy kid. Now I just need to figure out how to get him to smile for pictures.

Weddings, Easter and more

It's hard to keep all these web pages updated. Facebook, blogs, etc. I finally have some free time to update a little bit.
On March 14th we finally blessed Dax. I know babies usually get blessed at a much younger age, but we waited because Luke's brother Jake planned his wedding for St Patrick's Day and we wanted all the family to be there. It turned out to be a great day. For being 4 1/2 months, Dax did great and didn't make a peep. Thanks to everyone that was able to make it. We really appreciate your support and had a great time seeing everyone.
As I mentioned, the wedding was on St Patrick's Day but the reception was the night before. It was so much fun to have all the family together for a few days. Everyone looked so cute in their green, brown and white.

Wednesday was a wonderfully sunny day for a wedding. The ceremony was simple but beautiful and Jake and Kara looked great. As is tradition now, we went to Rodizio's for the wedding luncheon. Super delicious! It was just a great day all around.
I was able to attend the Young Womens General Broadcast the week before Conference. It was an amazing meeting and was the spirit was so strong! I walked out just thinking "Wow!" It's funny how we get so caught up in the day-to-day things that we forget the really important stuff. I understand now why conference is as often as it is. I definitely need the spiritual reminder.
Dax is growing up so fast and we are loving him at 5 months! I love this picture because it totally shows off his little belly. Why is it that chubby babies are so cute yet being a chubby adult is not so cute? It would be a lot simpler and less work if being chubby was trendy. Someday perhaps...
I thought he looked super cute in this yellow jacket so I started snapping pictures. And he was really cooperating while I took pictures so I got a couple good ones. Can you tell he needs a hair cut?
I know this one is kind of blurry, but love how happy he is in it! He is smiling so much these days and laughing more often. I love that he's such a mellow, happy kid.
I found a Bumbo on KSL. It was definitely worth the money. Thanks to those who left comments and helped me make the decision to get one. Dax loves being able to sit up and have a change in view from laying down or being held.
Easter was great this year. We decorated eggs with Justin, Jake and Kara. I never knew that if you use Vaseline, the color won't soak onto the egg. We had a lot of fun expressing our creativity.

After Conference, we went to my grandparents house in Bountiful for dinner and an Easter Egg Hunt! No matter how old I get, I'm still so excited to find the eggs. I'm glad I'm still considered one of the kids and that I get to gather. I'm sure it's fun to hide eggs too, but I'll stick to finding for as long as I can.
Dax's first Easter Egg Hunt. He found so many eggs he had to keep them in his pockets :)

Well, there's a little March update to carry you through until next month. One of these days we'll stay on top of things. Farewell.
